Most resources for travel sports parents fall into one of two categories: motivational content that addresses mindset but skips the hard numbers, or recruiting services that publish real statistics but have a financial incentive to keep the college dream feeling urgent. This site is built to be neither, a neutral, numbers-first reference that exists purely to help your family make a clear-eyed decision, whatever that decision turns out to be.
What Parents Think They Need
Which club is "best." How to get their kid "seen" by recruiters. How to secure a scholarship.
What Parents Actually Need
A clear-eyed total cost number, including the hidden line items most families don't budget for (private training, "stay-to-play" hotel mandates, showcase travel). A realistic probability assessment, so the financial and emotional investment can be right-sized to the actual odds. A framework for evaluating coaching and club quality yourselves, since we won't rank clubs for you. And permission and tools to say no, when that's the right call for your family.

We'll never tell you which specific club, team, or coach to choose, but we will give you the data and the questions to ask so you can make that call with real information instead of marketing language.
Other Resources Worth Knowing About
The Aspen Institute's Project Play is the most authoritative source for youth sports cost and participation data, and several of the statistics on this site are drawn from their research. Linda Flanagan's book Take Back the Game and Hoynes & Bjork's More Than Just a Game offer deeper sociological context on how youth sports got this way. None of these is built as a hands-on, sport-by-sport decision tool the way this site is, but they're excellent if you want to go deeper on the "why" behind what we cover here.

Start with your sport's Overview page for the headline numbers, then go as deep as you need, cost breakdowns, college pathway specifics, coaching credential explainers, and a red-flags checklist for vetting any specific program yourself.
